Vinnie Kobos was appointed to the Taghkanic Fire District Board of Commissioners in 2024 and will stand for election in 2025. He currently serves on the Training & Safety Committee.
Vinnie has nearly 16 years of volunteer firefighting experience, spending 5 years with Beekman Fire Company in Dutchess County, and the last 11 years with the Taghkanic Fire Company, serving as an interior firefighter and Safety Officer. His experience also includes prior service as a NYS EMT & Lieutenant.
As a Commissioner he will focus on safety, essential firefighter training, proper assignment of taxpayer funds for equipment, training, and gear needed to respond to all emergencies in our district in a timely manner.
Vinnie retired after spending 27 years working for Texaco & Chevron as an R&D Analytical Chemist with a BS degree from Mount Saint Mary College.
Originally a Dutchess County resident, he moved up to Columbia County 11 years ago.
Away from the firehouse, Vinnie and his wife have 3 horses, 30 chickens & 2 dogs on their farm. Vinnie also spends time hunting, fishing, biking, weight lifting & spending as much time as possible with his 7 year old granddaughter.
